Erin Konsmo

Erin Konsmo (they/them) is a Prairie queer of Métis and settler Canadian descent. They grew up in central Alberta and are a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. Their arts practice currently focuses on fish scale art; an art form they were mentored into by Métis artist Jaime Morse. They enjoy spending time ice fishing, processing the gifts from the fish and sharing the glamor and iridescence of fish scales.

Most recently Erin was involved in the Wall-to-Wall Mural & Culture Festival in Treaty 1 territory (Winnipeg) and created a large-scale digital art piece called “Fish/Scale”. Erin was selected as a 2021 winner of the Emerging Digital Arts Award for their work with digital manipulation of fish scales. They are a fan of sewing room drawers full of rick rack and lace, and love beavers, fish, and the water and land.
